monday, monday
hello Monday. I don’t care for you today.
1) We were supposed to get freezing rain all night and didn’t. Normally I don’t wish for crappy weather, but today it really suited my needs. because…
2) We have another stinking 2 hour delay instead of a school cancellation. I’m sick of school delays. It totally messes up the whole schedule for the day and I’m tired of being flexible. Two hour delay puts me in charge of getting those people to school. Including the spawn who is always late and needs to be driven and putting me in charge of driving her just makes it worse. Oh, I just remembered she has detention today for … being late to school. Ah, memories of last year when she had detention a lot for… being late to school. Sigh. We’re not that smart here.
3) Why I wanted (needed) a school cancellation today: I had a lovely Saturday doing whatever moved me and I had a busy Sunday doing whatever had to be moved. So Sunday evening appeared out of nowhere and I had all my class reading to do. Yessirree. Mighty pleased with my decision to put that off. Because I was up way into the wee hours sucking down coffee and reading long articles (which were thankfully comprehensible for a change, but nonetheless long) and wishing I could be snoring like everybody else. And a school cancellation today would sort of put to rest the fact that I have done nothing for the little 6 hour long art extravaganza I’m committed to on Friday. (Because no school today would translate to school on Friday and therefore no in-service at the art place.) So life would be grand. instead…
4) It is the Mondayest of Mondays. The beginning of what promises to be quite a week.
and now it’s time to get on with it.

Tomorrow is Tuesday.
On Friday it was 2*F in the morning, and now it’ll be a high of 53* today. We had rains this morning. This weather is bat-crap crazy.
I also hated two-hour delays when I was in school. Luckily in my college, delays don’t exist. …. Well, neither did all-campus class cancellations. lol
@bmojsilo - this is true. but tuesdays are even longer than mondays. @Cestovatelka - bat crap crazy indeed. didn’t have delays and cancellations when i was an undergrad either, but there are sometimes now. i wouldn’t mind 53*. it’s been too cold. @roscoes_farm - always have to have a song.

maybe it will freeze enough thursday night to cancel school friday, at least giving you a long weekend. anyway, hope this monday turns out to be special.
Eek. Hope it gets better. I am sick of being flexible too, as a matter of fact. I was JUST thinking about how sick I am of being flexible and how much I would prefer to be rigid, selfish and uncompromising, and how maybe I ought to try it for a while and see how it works out. Even though I can probably already predict exactly how it would work out.

I feel bad for the kids around here because today they had scheduled as an off day. If they had scheduled classes then they would’ve been canceled. It was so nasty this morning.
I had a friend and roommate in college who had the surname “Monday” and so many people addressed him on Mondays by singing “Monday, Monday”. He loathed it.
@godfatherofgreenbay - i can see how that would get old. well at least they don’t have to make up a day.
my kids were notoriously late to school and we live right across the street
they turned out alright …. well…..oh never mind

@mlbncsga - we’re a block away from the elem. and 10 mins. max from the high school. it’s obscene is what it is. but, heh. if she’s at detention i know what she’s doing and where she’s doing it and i haven’t lost her. (again)
Yeah, I’m with you. It was pure fog, like pea soup out this morning (so of course everyone was tailgating me around the tight corners
), but at least it was a little warm. Then on my way home I dropped my brand new phone on the ground, into a puddle and cracked the screen… Thankfully it still works and I think I can replace the screen easily. 
The one good thing about today was that it went by pretty quickly. Kinda hope the rest of the week goes that way, too.
Oh, and I forgot to say that I love that song. The Mamas & the Papas have great harmony.
I was thinking “Just another manic Monday”. Hope your day went well and you are relaxing tonight and getting a break.
