  • (in)decision

#npm Rondelle or rondel which appears to maybe be a rondeau too or some such.  Rhyming pattern: ABba abAB abbaAB with A and B as repeated lines.

    I cannot make a decision
    Ideas wiggle around my brain
    I hear a familiar refrain
    The plan often needs revision

    A simple path I envision
    Another way has good terrain
    I cannot make a decision
    Ideas wiggle around my brain

I long to choose with precision
With many viewpoints I will strain
    My thoughts wavering I complain
    To reach a nothing collision
    I cannot make a decision
    Ideas wiggle around my brain

I’m the poster child for Freewill (get your Rush fix here) “if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.” I can debate all 26 sides.  The grass is greener on both sides of the fence.  I tell you it is exhausting to be in my brain.  I’ve been debating a plan for next year, trying to decide which option is the best in the long run and the short run and any other run there might be.  A couple times I almost made it my Final Answer.  Well, this afternoon I heard from someone else who is more proactive than me that it’s too freaking late for me to decide to get my heiney in gear.  So. That’s that.  And truly, my heart made it clear that I was ok with that.  I wasn’t disappointed.  Often enough I discover what I think after it’s too late to do anything about it.  Hallelujah! Decision made! Except I later thought that there are other options too.  To be debated ad nauseum.

In other news, I’m making the cutest hammock in the history of hammocks.  It may not actually be functional, but darn it’s cute.

    no don’t you cry
    not one tear, shed
    willing tastes right
    not upon turds instead
    but to feed life
    and your being eaten alive
    blood blue not red
    slurped up oh yeah
    bum luck oh my

    spider web bed
    say bye bye fly.

  • The grass is sweet on all sides, so I love being in the middle and smelling it all!

  • Aw and Ha. Sometimes the decision is taken out of our hands. Then our attitude is important. Sometimes we can’t make the decision because we are not quite ready. Then time is our friend. Most of the time there are always other options.

Growing up, NO ONE in my family ever asked for my opinion, so when I got out on my own at seventeen, I loved when people couldn’t make up their mind about something and they’d ask my opinion.

    A hammock sounds lovely!

I’ve got the wiggles tonight…but not in my brain!

    HUGS!!!

  • I try not to have opinions and or make decisions. Can at times, get me in too much trouble.

  • Ooooh hammock!!!

  • Cute poem!  I’m the same way.  I always say I’m great at making decisions; I just don’t know when to stop!  16 Final Answers are as useless as none.
Hammocks are awesome.  People hammock?  cat hammock? banana hammock?!

  • @Thatslifekid - i’m excited to finish. i will document.  i just hope the thing lasts longer than a week.  we’re rough on stuff.
@armnatmom - true.  i almost had to state an opinion yesterday.  luckily someone else tactfully put off the conversation to a time when i won’t have to hear it.
@adamswomanback - i don’t think i made a decision until i was 30. with the teen(ish) people in the house, nothing i say is right anyhow.  i’m thinking that patience pays off. the decisions made slowly are the good ones. and the little ones probably don’t matter.  darn i get seasick in the middle. hugs.
@RighteousBruin - the grass is wonderful all around.  i appreciate that comment. i’m living that adage about saying no to something leaves you open to say yes to something else.  (and feeling the relief that comes with that)  maybe saying “maybe” is just as freeing.
@starmanjones - i dig your poem.  i especially like the part about bread falling off a sled.  and i could put “willing tastes right” on my wall. now i wonder who is the spider and who is the fly.

  • LOL, a cute hammock can also be a throw rug, blanket (not that it would keep one warm of course) or even wall art.

    DO WHAT YOU WANT sweetheart!

  • @lanney - i don’t mind making a decision and then changing my mind.  i just don’t like thinking one thing in the hallway and the opposite thing in the bathroom and then a third thing in the kitchen.  i either need to stop walking around in the house or i need training to maintain an opinion for longer than 30 seconds.

my hammock project is awesome sauce.  i’m replacing the woven part with canvas. i didn’t want to rethread the rope part, so i had to figure out how to reuse that.  and i did!  and it’s just so cute.  i wanna stay home today to finish it.  which is not going to happen. because now i’m subbing this afternoon.

i have so much to say today.  i must be sleep-deprived. or maybe i miss talking to you. (or both)  i can’t decide.  :P

  • @olwd - ah. but what do i want?

  • Well, apparently you don’t really want a hammock.  lol

  • @olwd - challenge accepted.  i will finish it this evening and post a photo. because it is so damn cute.

  • You’re always sleep -deprived.  We need to talk more.  Can’t wait to see the hammock.  Got to go to work.    <3

  • LOL, ok then, look forward to seeing this “hammock” of yours dear.

  • @lanney - true all around.  have a good day.

  • @lanney - what the heck am i going to wear to work?

  • @promisesunshine - just don’t wear the hammock, it’s not finished – yet

  • @promisesunshine - lol I’m not wolfing you down  nor do I want to bw eaten alive for your children’s supper…so let’s just let this just be the obvious of me happy I could carry what i know about spiders all the way through the  poem…which is in reality not very  much I cannot exactly remember if that’s the fate of poor old fly to have spider generations eat it up dead from alive … but in the spirit abba, dance woman  like a queen.. :D   but have you  a moment to

its a haha on your rhyme scheme as the song’s name isn’t that but the chord progression of the song ;) .  but yes yes, how often  now do you see how possible much of we want is and you just get whining~ foul whining.  heheheh pardon a reveal but no no don’t cry, don’t one tear shead willing. tastes right.  I was thinking of different things but within the visual metaphor ;)

  • @starmanjones - ah. abacab. i get it.  how much fun is that?  i could invent the genesis poem. i liked the poem for the clever theme and the bits of wisdom within.  i thought your link would be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REElUors1pQ
    @sweetashoneybutterfly8890 - thanks
@mlbncsga - hardly ever wear the hammock on friday.  we do casual.

  • @promisesunshine - has to be some fun out there lol.

  • Personally, as a boxing fan, I do not like split decisions.

  • @vexations - a boxing fan? really?

  • We used to have neat little hammocks tied to columns at home in the back section of the house, so the servants could put their little babies in them. I would love to have one here to get my grand baby in one.

  • @ZSA_MD - there is something so soothing about a hammock.
