short stuff
At work today I get to help with an art project and watch Monsters Inc. And get presents.
And not an art project like yesterday. You would never believe the project I did with 1st graders. It was hairy, but so cute. Well, I don’t mean the project is hairy. Anyhow.
Sent the birthday girl to school happy. She made cookies for her class. She was even clean. And she’d practiced her drum more than she was supposed to. 12 dawned pretty bright here in the land of sunshine. (minus sunshine. because it’s going to rain forever.)
It’s days like today that I think of Ray Bradbury and the two best short stories in the history of writing.
Spawn is sick, so she’s not having her sleepover client this evening, which is fine. Now I don’t have to worry about whether LLO’s friend actually comes over. I can fix it.
In 6 short hours, I will be home free for the rest of the year.
Also, I’m a hero with LLO because I got an email for a great after school science thing. Some days it’s easier to be a hero than others.
I may sleep in tomorrow. All the way to 7am. Or… gasp.. even 7:30.
In other news, I need a quad latte. At least.

Lucky you to be off the rest of the year!
@Thatslifekid - i know it. (sorry you are not. but i’m sure you actually get a real paycheck)
Monsters Inc, art, birthday joy and science– sounds like lots of good things.
I’m sorry the heir apparent is sick. I hope it passes quickly!
@lanney - she’d better be feeling fine by tomorrow. because that girl is celebrating and that’s that. (all 3 of us girls are sick. spouseman is going to wait until there’s work to do to come down with it.)
@promisesunshine - My “paycheck” goes pretty back to paying bills. So really… its like not getting paid at all?
Daughters last day of school until the first of the year, was this past Wednesday. Sorry to hear that little one is sick. I hope she feels better before Tuesday!
Monsters, Inc . . . at work. Dang, no fair!!!
I want to see the aforementioned cute hairy 1st grade project.
Have fun on your vacation. May you all feel well and enjoy the family time.
So what are the Ray Bradbury short stories?
Happy cozy birthday sickness and feel better soon!
Your sleeping in is 7:30…. of girl someone need to teach you… it should be 10:00 am!
I used to love having blocks of time off like that.
Enjoy and Merry Christmas,
frank
Monsters, Inc. beats “Shrek the Halls”, which one teacher proposed as the Day Before Break film. (It was voted down).
Hope your break goes nicely. Happy Holidays!
you should sleep until 7:45 ( your such a rebel ) – enjoy the time off, Merry Christmas!
@RighteousBruin - Shrek the Halls is not what I’d want to see just before the world ends.
I don’t know the two best short stories in the history of stories. What are they, please?
Monsters Inc…I once worked with a lady that reminded me of Roz in that movie and after I saw it I could never look at her the same way.
@distractedbyzombies - @ordinarybutloud - i knew someone would make me look them up. because obviously i need to make sure i have the correct titles. “All Summer in a Day” and “Rain, Rain, Go Away” which I see now is not Ray Bradbury but Isaac Asimov. A themed pairing in honor of our rain which has now kinda turned to snow. Just not very good snow.
@godfatherofgreenbay - i guess not.
@mlbncsga - 7:50 even.
@angys_coco - i do not think i have EVER in my whole life slept until 10am. i just can’t. not wired that way.
@Crystalinne - i was too busy to take photos of the kids at it and i left my sample at school.
@ANVRSADDAY - i really need it. thanks. hope your holidays are also wonderful.
@olwd - i know! and i rub it in too. geez.
Days when you get to be the hero shuld be circled in red on the calendar and celebrated wildly! I hope your day was fun and fabulous.
@songoftheheart - GREAT day thus far. spawn told me today that a good christmas present for her would be spending time with me. and she wasn’t even sucking up. and i got piles of hugs at school today. lasagna in the oven. popcorn for stringing on the way. AND IT’S SNOWING!!
My grand kids got off today also. They don’t return to school until the 6th or 7th I believe. Daughter is very happy.
Have great time off Carrie.
Working the next few weekends because of the way the holidays fall this year. Need some sleep. Downed way too much Diet Mountain Dew today…
@ZSA_MD - that’s a nice break. we don’t have so long. but it’s still a break.
@Zoz36 - good thing you’re flexible.
That story about the sun and the little girl locked in the closet is one that has lingered in my mind for years… so sad.
@murisopsis - i think i read it for the first and only time in middle school. so it’s lingered with me too.
