drawing a line
oh my goodness
there IS a line button
what else does this thing do?
I have done some craziness so I have to leave it just so. And that’s ok.
I’ve decided that my new goal is learning to play the ukelele and studying up on calculus (which was incomprehensible those bazillion times I tried.)
I’ve decided that I don’t have to do anything with freaking Christmas that I don’t really want to do.
And I don’t care what anyone says about it.
Oh, golly. LLO just finished reading Bridge to Terabithia. That stinks. (It has a sad ending.)
I’ve decided that it is perfectly acceptable to burn stuff in my backyard.
As long as I don’t burn down the house and I’m not sure that matters so much either.
I’ve decided that watching movies is a good thing.
I dug out a project that I started before small people. I may actually work on it. I may not.
I have to go help LLO make metaphors for Thanksgiving food now.
Earlier tonight I helped Spawn translate German.
I’m that kind of awesome.
Well. Sort of. Because tomorrow Spouseman is scheduled to have a birthday and I have bupkus.

Bupkas? What in the world are bupkas? spouseman? Where did he come from? You never cease to shock me, lady.
I had an argument with my Spouseman tonight too. He accused me of burning the house down every time I get mad at him. I am pretty sure he was speaking metaphorically though.
@BoulderChristina - i knew you were a fiery lady. bupkus (bupkas. whatever it is) = nothing, nada, zilch, nil, zero. and less than zero inclination (time or fundage) to do anything about it. spouseman came from pa. i’ve had him a little while.
LINES!? What madness is this???
Also, calculus? Really? Who does calculus in their spare time? I’m pretty sure I understood it when I learned it, but it’s all gone out of my brain now. Math and science do that to me. They sink in and then I spit them out and comprehend them and all that for tests and then six months later I have no idea what I learned. Oh well.
Ukelele, huh? Might be interesting. I can kinda play guitar, maybe, a little. If you get good, I expect to hear some Hawaii music soon!
@leaflesstree - i know, right? lines!! i tried to put it in several times in the mid 80′s. i’m smurter now. ha ha. i won’t be playing tiny bubbles on the ukelele. i’m aiming for psychokiller.
@promisesunshine – wow, now that would be an interesting cover. You could start a talking heads cover band, ukelele lead. Wild.
My husband has a uke as does his best friend. The play every once in awhile.
I may have to play with these lines so I can toe them…and that sounds horrible.
You always make me smile, do you know that? Happy birthday to Spouseman!
I’ve got Bupkis, a dice game that goes by many other names such as Ten Thousand, Zilch, and Farkle. Maybe Mister Spouseman would like a nice dice game for his birthday? Most toy stores have it.
I don’t often use those lines because their official name is horizontal rule. I am not a fan of rules.
I can’t recall ever seeing ukelele and calculus in the same sentence. You truly are just that kind of awesome!
Gift cards Gift cards. I can think of better ways to waste time. Like playing games on Facebook or reading fan fiction. The pile of books I want to read mocks me every day… I’ll bring marshmellos the next time you’re buring things in the back yard. And Christms Ale…
Have fun with the uke, and birthday wishes to spouseman.
Bupkis and spouseman are awesome words. Good luck with the ukelele and calculus. As for the bday, well, there’s always a handwritten poem, a passionate kiss and/or a nice homecooked meal. Each are free and usually well received, but you said it wasn’t just lack of funds stopping you, that you lacked desire to get something. I’m sorry if there is less than a loving feeling there. I hope the day manages to go smoothly for you. Just be careful with the burning b/c if you don’t get along with your neighbors, in some places they can call it in and report you to authorities and then you’ll get a cop knocking at your door since in some places there needs be a permit to do so. there are regulations and codes for different areas and times of the year, but I understand. I like a good fire now and again myself. You should be ok if you keep a hose or bucket of water nearby.
@murisopsis - and I’m imagining Pa playing his fiddle and Mary, Laura, and Carrie dancing around the fire. which is a nice image for me.
@godfatherofgreenbay - i always think it’s toe the line, but it’s not.
@songoftheheart - i’m thinking of celebrating all the birthdays i’m missing later. (like yours, for example) <3
@HappierHeathen - he’s not wild about games. horizontal rule. nope. not saying anything about that. i will make it a personal goal to authentically combine odd pairs of items in my sentences.
@Zoz36 - now there’s an idea.
@armnatmom - thanks.
@Crystalinne - i think we’ll celebrate his birthday this weekend. tuesdays are busy in my land.
Do you have a ukelele? I have to go watch that again now.
And I’m thinking of metaphors but I don’t think I’m awake because so far what I thought of was, “Turkey without ham is like a horse without a bicycle.”
@lanney - apparently i don’t. i thought we did. i think that is an analogy. i believe the youngun conquered the thanksgiving feast poetic writing feat. there was some drama. because homework without drama is like a horse without a bicycle.
“What the world needs now is ukelele.” Oh, tell John Happy Birthday from us, whenever that fits into the schedule.
@lanney - this i shall do. i’m composing the perfect facebook post to commemorate his being older than me. or what i’m going to say.
One more year topside — it’s a good thing.
@lanney - i am a horrible human being
That escalated quickly.
@lanney - i’m terribly amused with myself.
Marvelously spazzed-out entry. You are that kind of awesome. Glad the line button entertained you so. You’ve discovered the secret to Christmas – there’s way too much supposed-to about the holiday.
our secret brainiac. you, that is. love it. i hate thinking that i love it all by myself, though, because you’re busy denying it, over there, somewhere
oxoo the blondeguy is right, do as thou wilt, re holidays. or any other day, dammit janet
lanney would like my mate, he says something similar, on a good day. better to be above ground, whilst we can. which brings up another image idea. sheesh.
LOL spouseman, what a funny nickname that is. That sounds like an oxymoron actually. LOL
Calculus? YIKES, *runs away and hides*
@Six_Days_Divided_by_Blondville - spazzed out. that’s me. there’s no middle ground.
@olwd - i’m making stuff up. i’m not really going to learn calculus.
@Bels_Kaylar - i was smart in 1980. it was all downhill after that. now i’m just trying to keep those two brain cells working.
I’ve considered trying calculus again.Can’t be as scary as it was forty years ago.
Now that is a problem with hubby”s birthday tomorrow and not having bupkus:) Hope it all turns out to be a good day for him and you.
@Grannys_Place - just made plans to celebrate it on sat. instead of today. and it’s not like we parents really get a birthday anyhow.
@Inciteful - yea, it probably is.
So quit the bitching on your blog, and stop pretending art is hard, just limit yourself to three chords and do not practice daily…. http://music.amandapalmer.net/track/ukulele-anthem
I’m going to have this song in my head all night now. I’m sure my family thanks you
@lilies_of_snow - i nearly considered being offended. but then realized that i’m not. because today is a ridiculous day. a day worthy of art and ukelele. or playing inane games on facebook and not doing homework.
@promisesunshine - No, you can’t be offended! You just have to listen to the song
@lilies_of_snow - i had to figure that that little arrow was “play”. that’s such a perky little song.
@promisesunshine - Every time I hear that song I end up singing it for days. And playing my favorite cover song, especially if the words are wrong…. (BTW, I think Psycho Killer would be a fantastic ukelele song)
@lilies_of_snow - ok. it’s BRILLIANT!! if anyone tries to steal your ukelele. let them take it.
@lilies_of_snow - i think this is my anthem. yes. indeed.
@lilies_of_snow - and psychokiller for you. guaranteed to make me grin. hope it does right by you.
@promisesunshine - That is awesome
I love Talking Heads. And ukelele. My ipad doesn’t let me copy links for youtube or I would have sent you one for Ukelele Anthem — but if you search youtube for Amanda Palmer Neil Gaiman Ukelele Anthem, you get the very best version of the song.
@promisesunshine - LOL, oh good, so I can come out of the closet then. BWAHAHAHAHA
@starmanjones - cucumbers disintegrate in redhots? you know i’lll have to try this out. and the spiked lemonade.
@olwd - oh, yes. come out of the closet.
@promisesunshine - lol other way around! redhots into cucumbers. hold yep
I have a knack for knowing it’ll be okay, I reads good.
http://homesteepedhope.com/2008/08/07/cinnamon-cucumber-pickles/ my buddy told me of these, thus please, I can’t verify just yet but
@starmanjones - mmm. num. num.
@promisesunshine - :)
ukelele music goes good by a pool party…..
@vexations - i can be hired for entertainment this summer.
will play for beer.
or mojitos
@promisesunshine - If I do, you won’t make fun of me? BWAHAHAHAHA
@olwd -
