water room
#whimsh 2. PAINT a picture based on a dream you had
I had a dream a couple night’s ago. A very strange dream with rooms in a house. First a lost room, then a water room and then a yelling/pretending room. And I think the water room was a soothing, preparing room to help me navigate between the feelings of being lost and the chaos. I can’t begin to tell you how amazing and wonderful this room was.
This is my interpretive painting of it. And we’ll leave it at that.
I can’t leave it at that. I clearly need practice with perspective. There I said it.
And now I’m going to hit “save changes” and get over it.

Clearly the work of a future picaso.
We can learn so much about ourselves from our dreams!
I quite like your use of color.
I like it. It’s nice to have a soothing place like that in your head.
You’ve got a certain knack.
amazing. amazing painting and interpretation. i am so there.
Love it! I’m so glad you did this!
@Kris0logy - isn’t that blue wall amazing? it really was that color in the dream.
@lanney - and now i have it on paper too. it was such a good place to dream.
@songoftheheart - thank you, jo. i think you should do the mandala first. i love your mandalas. (nag, nag)
@be_the_rain - thanks for waiting for it. hmm. maybe i’ll paint a veranda next.
@Inciteful - gosh, thanks for the rec. i’m not sure it’s all that, but i did enjoy painting it.
@specialxplaces - picasso’s memory is in no danger from me. but i often feel better when i figure out what my dreams are telling me.
very nice
Yes and that’s just the blue I pictured when you described it.
@lanney - dude. that’s wild.
@godfatherofgreenbay - thank you. (can i call you a patron without being offensive?)
heehee, veranda. love it. <3
A water room sounds so very inviting and if you don’t mind, I’m diving right into the picture. Delightful!!
I have that effect on women. Sue me.
Better than anything I can produce. Having problems with stick figures…
You are a gifted artist.
@MzSilver - come on in. i wanted to dive into the pool myself (but in my dream i actually decided to check the depth of the pool first. isn’t that a hoot?)

@Bricker59 - yup. wild dreams and insomnia. all your fault.
@Zoz36 - thanks for the rec, as always, brian. hope your week is going ok.
@PrisonerxOfxLove -
Looks good to me. What a dream!
Wow, now the painting took some effort. Thanks for sharing. (Why do I always get to your posts so late? Note to myself) I’d like to hear more about the pretending room. I also see a parallel between your poem of yesterday and your dream. That conflict is, from my experience, most normal albeit nonetheless maddening.
@vexations - i get your postings late too. i shall tell you about the pretending room and then you can help me connect the boat. oh. i get it. thanks for the mini.
cool! I love how the water seems to rivulet around the windows. I am not sure rivulet is supposed to be verbed, but eh. ha. neither is verb. what the hell was i talking about? Oh yeah, this is neat. Water dreams can be important, too.
@anvilsandedelweiss - water stuff is the best. the windows were fountains in the dream. thanks for seeing the rivuleting action.
awesome painting. And oh oh! I had a dream last night! Maybe you can tell me what it means. The PTA ladies were explaining during a luncheon that they signed me up to do the K girls tea the next day, which involves feeding and entertaining 60 5 year-old girls in a snooty and attractive atmosphere…AND signed me up to do some other loathsome kid-related school chore, without asking me. My mother was at the luncheon. She turned to me and asked, “what do you think of that?” And I said, “I THINK IT SUCKS!” And my mother was horrified and embarrassed and I had to spend the rest of the day apologizing to every tennis-playing, luncheon-going, sorority bitch in the city for being so impolite.
@ordinarybutloud - when i’m done laughing my heiny off, i will happily interpret your dream. gut reaction though: you wanna tell the fancy people to f-off.
@promisesunshine - awesome. I look forward to your interpretation. It was a very disturbing dream. I nearly cried.
(that’s a confusing assortment of winky faces to help in your interpretation).
@ordinarybutloud - well, just duh. didn’t actually need my handy dandy dream interpretation website to figure this one out. school is looming. that time when you get guilted into doing ridiculously fancy and overstimulating things for “the good of your children’s educational experience” and other such tripe. and you don’t want to volunteer or be volunteered for this stuff. and the be volunteered part is probably you as well, because you know that you will raise your hand because it’s for the children. and the “sucks” part is what you want to say- in addition to hell no i won’t do this shit. and the mother is your internal, nurturing guide who thinks you shouldn’t feel this way because it’s for the children. golly, you’re complicated.
the kindergarten part is interesting too, because i believe your baby is going to first grade. so perhaps you have some “unresolved feelings of anxiety or separation”- i stole that directly from the website. it’s a big deal when the baby goes to 1st grade. also a big deal when the baby goes to 6th. but i’m not thinking about that.
that will be 5 cents please. and now i must pick up spawn from band camp. and i haven’t brushed my hair, so she’s going to be embarrassed by me. i shall crank the radio too.
Water Room, to me, is a place of healing.
@RighteousBruin - it is. it felt so good to be there in the dream. thanks for the rec.
Sounded like a nice dream–and I liked your painting.
My wife is a water color artist and she struggles with perspective and angles.
frank
@ANVRSADDAY - your wife’s paintings are more detailed than this one. but it’s how it was in the dream. really.
I’d love to visit that house! hehe! And I’m impressed that you were able to paint the picture and then get it onto your blog! Very impressed…
@murisopsis - i ripped it into little pieces and threw it at the screen. (i’m so sorry i made a funny elsewhere and i can’t get myself serious. seriously: scanner)
great picture (:
It reminds me of a cave, only brighter and more peaceful. And more civilized. I’d love to have a room like that. Although, I hate to tell you, I’d probably fish in it.
@distractedbyzombies - you can fish anywhere you choose.
yea, a cave. kinda. so cool. i can still feel how cool it was. and quiet. definitely civilized. i’m glad you like my dream haven.
I’ve had that dream!
@Aloysius_son - what did you think it meant? i dream of rooms all the time. and shoes.
I think it is an attempt to compartmentalize the various facets of our life, especially those which are deemed necessary yet in opposition to our depest desires. The water room is to me retruning to the womb and starting over, but we just end up repeating the same life when we wake.
@Aloysius_son - you make it seem so obvious. i think we can do the ugly real rooms as long as we have a water room to come back to. (more wombs with you today?
)
(Re my pulse) No, I don’t want to be mean to anyone. I’ve blown off steam before in a pulse, and then I’ll make it private before it escalates too far.
You should just do dream interpretation always. I very much like that color blue also.
@leaflesstree - i need more dreams to interpret. i don’t remember enough of my own.
That was quite a dream and I like the painting.
@Grannys_Place - thank you. my dreams are wild.
I love the painting, dreams are amazing, you just never know what you will come up with!
@seedsower - you are very sweet. don’t let some jerk make you feel guilty for doing what you have to do.
Such talent, and you keep it hidden in your dreams? Glad you painted it. Love your description of it.
@ZSA_MD - you are such a treasure, Zakiah. i’m so very pleased to know you. ~ Carrie.
wow. how did i miss this?? a. love your courage. b. that is an AMAZING dream.
@Bels_Kaylar - i figure my water room is all kinds of tao. i’m glad you came by to see it.
@promisesunshine - oh, it’s Tao, all right
(come see what i just posted; oddly an accompaniment to what you last posted
@Bels_Kaylar - love it.
@promisesunshine -
thank you. the giggles were the best kind of thank you, too
