flower quest
a quest.
i have rose of sharon all over the place in my yard. at least i used to. i’ve seen it blooming in other people’s yards. so now i have rose of sharon blooming envy. this morning i went on a quest. in my socks and jammies (my poor neighbors)
the first thing i found was the moon
then i found some buds. yay!
and then i found 3 whole blooms. and i was happy.
and now i get on with my day.

ah, I love rose of sharon! the way you wrote this sounds like a children’s book. I love that.
Thanks for sharin’ the Rose of Sharon.
@lanney - i’m just a kid.
@runisom48 - you’re welcome. i gotta read ya later. me brain hurts.
So pretty!
This brightened my day!
I have heard of this rose, but never saw one.
always good to start the day being mooned.
That looks like hibiscus to me… and Wikipedia says it is indeed hibiscus syriacum, known as Rose of Sharon in the US.
In Colombia I took photos of some hibiscus blossoms that were about eight inches across.
The Rose of Sharon is delicious hibiscus.
Nice blooms!
@Roadkill_Spatula - that is interesting. the leaves on my hibiscus flower are completely different. rose of sharon grows as a tree. i must research. blooms are the same though (which might explain why i wanted hibiscus in the first place.
@RighteousBruin - that it is. only flowers we have that bloom in july.
@ANVRSADDAY - it’s not very roselike. but i like it.
@Orlei - @Cestovatelka - thanks, glad you like.
@buddy71 - i’m so glad to help you out with that.
yay!
pretty!!
or maybe the moon found you
my rose of sharon flowers look like pale pink roses instead of hibiscus…maybe I don’t really have rose of sharon after all
LOL! Out on a quest in socks and jammies! I love those trees. Glad you’re getting blooms.
My Rose -of-Sharon looks just like yours, but they can have other colored blooms as well. I just saw this huge yellow and black butterfly having a nice drink of nectur at its blossums, but by the time I grabbed my camera and ran to the back door, it was flying away.
I didn’t realize Rose of Sharon was hibiscus. I have a beautiful yellow hibiscus that is rocking it out in my front yard now. This after I lost TWO hibiscus in a row to frost and freezing weather. But this one looks sturdy. And it keeps blooming. So yay.
@ordinarybutloud - and so now i know that i can make tea out of my rose of sharon too. now that is cool. perhaps jelly as well. this is all new to me.
@DMMeyer - i think all of mine are this purple. i think hummingbirds like it too.
@songoftheheart - i think my other obnoxious shrubberies are outgrowing the rose of sharon. i believe i shall hack away to reveal the ones i want.
@mlbncsga - i wonder what yours is? or maybe it’s just another variety. i do not know.
@Grannys_Place - @WakeUpLaughing - makes me happy too.
@promisesunshine - Yes! I have seen hummingbirds around mine. It is convienent that I planted my Rose of Sharon right outside my window!
Aw cute story.
My parents used to have one of those flowers in their yard. They didn’t like it. Or I should say my mom didn’t like it, because my dad doesn’t care about plants. I forget why. Anyway they chopped the thing down and it came back up and they finally dug out the roots but they missed a spot and it came back up and they had to dig again and now it’s gone. Otherwise I would give it to you.
@leaflesstree - how nice of you to offer. they spread pretty well. so i really do have a lot of the plants. just the ones i used to be able to see from the living room are covered up by whatever the heck those other things are. which i think i really will go hack down now. if i can find a saw. surely i have a saw. if only i could see it.
@promisesunshine - the plants do not want to be cut down. So they have hidden the saw. I sense trouble in the future.
@leaflesstree - i won.
i am invincible.
I have some of those flowers in my yard.
