  • what you people have done

    I was just having a micro conversation about how my Xanga people have infiltrated my real life.  Really, it’s true.  In a good way. And I don’t just mean that I’m constantly here to the point that I get nothing else done.  I’m a professional time-waster, I don’t need you for that.

    I’m not going to mention any names or stuff here, because that has potential to be totally creepy.  But you cross my mind sometimes.  I’ve even had a couple of you enter the dream zone (which was decidedly odd, I admit.)  And sometimes I change the way I think because of something you’ve said.  Or I change the way I look at something because of something you’ve shown me.

    I swear it- before you, I didn’t write poetry.  Now, whether I should or not, I love to write poetry.

    Before you, I wouldn’t have dreamed of sketching or sharing art.  And here is this thing I did yesterday afternoon when I was supposed to be reading.

    Before you, photography was people doing stuff and me staying the heck away from a camera.  Again, yesterday I saw this and thought of your nature shots.  I thought of how you’ve taught me to see beauty in the every day.  Although it’s not all that hard to see beauty in a blue sky.

    And then there are the details.  You’ve taught me to focus on the small to be a part of the big. (You’ll notice that I need to figure out how to make the camera focus on the small.)

    I’ve cried reading some of your poems or stories.  I’ve laughed, alot.  I’ve sung with your song choices.  I’ve been the places you’ve described.  I’ve felt your loneliness and your happiness. I’ve thought about things you’ve said.  I’ve been awestruck by your art.  I’ve looked at something you’ve done or said and immediately sighed in contentment or commiseration.

    You’ve listened to me when I’m aggravated and made me feel better.  You’ve made me smile.  You’ve made me brave.  And even when I’m mean or spacey or nonsensical, you listen and tell me it’s ok.

    That’s what you people have done.  Thanks.

  • You should definitely write poetry; you’re good at it!  That’s a pretty impressive chair there, too!
    I am glad that this place/these people have expanded your thought processes and ways of looking at things.  That is what interacting with people is supposed to do and so seldom does.
    Thanks for being here.  (hugs)

  • awwwwww.  :) Nicest post ever. Love your photos and your art.

  • nice chair. and thank you for sharing everything you do. <3

  • It’s so true…they are an amazing bunch of people who all have something unique to offer.  And you add so much to the collective in all that you share.  It’s such a pleasure getting to know you here.

  • Yes, this is an amazing place, isn’t it? I’m glad you have also been so positively influenced. :)

  • That chair is awesome. : ) This is a sweet post.

    Xanga is kind of funny like that. I’ve been here for a long time. Sometimes I want to leave, mostly when relationships change or I get stressed… but I always come right back to loving it for what it is.

  • God, that was beautiful

  • This is exactly why I will always have a Xanga, whether I update it regularly or not. :3

  • xanga is also a huge part of my life, all of you are so very important for me and yes I totally can relate to this post in so many levels… I’m so happy I got the chance to get to met you, you’re a an amazingly interesting and wonderful addition to my whole life…
    I promise Pervy_ Peguin I was going to try make top ten with lesbian’s sketches to see if that’s possible O.o wish me luck!
    You should draw a lot more often, I think you have great potential :)

  • Xanga keeps me going strong. ILU

  • Isn”t it wonderful to belong to such a wonderful community of people here on Xanga.

  • The Internet does that to us. It gives us or some of us at least the opportunity even remotely to find hope in a listener. Like i find you likable enough to ask you to be my friend but fear you will decline me. Such is my emotional involvement in this crowded athmosphere. I like your post..

  • I dig your chair. I would like to sit in such a chair. Very much.

    I’m not surprised you’ve found xanga so enriching. Some of the best people hang out here.

  • I have been here for a long long time. And in the beginning, I was addicted to it. I love it, and yet, I want to get away from it too. Kind of different, no? It just depends what the mood is like and what I am writing about. Now, I think I can get myself away from it for a day or two without having withdrawal effects.

    This post of yours, is beautifull written and I love what you have said here. I am sure all of us who think with some amount of sensitivity, will agree that xanga is a big part of our life.

  • “I’m a professional time-waster, I don’t need you for that.”

    Yeah, I know what you mean, I’m also in need of better time management skills.

  • Lovely sketch. Excellent detail. It is amazing how Xanga becomes a part of your life. There has been so much amazing support when things have gotten tough andl life is being a bummer. It’s all about give and take and that is what makes it a great place to spend time. You hit the nail on the head. This people are terrific!

  • I wonder if there is a national association of time wasters?  NAWOT (National Association of Wasters of Time)  Perhaps there is a need to start one complete with a newsletter and national convention.  If the convention was a waste of time I guess it would be considered a complete success.  If I have sparked in some small way what you talked about here I think I would feel pretty big headed.  And, that is a good thing.

  • Yes. Xanga and its people have done much for me, also… it’s good to feel not alone.

  • @vexations - surely you know you’re in there. head shouldn’t fit through the door.  time wasters wouldn’t have newsletters and conventions.  i don’t think.  who would organize it
    all?

    @MzSilver - no doubt about it.

    @HappeningsZ - hello there!  waste time here any time.

    @ZSA_MD - thank you so much for visiting and for your nice comments.  xanga is a nice haven.

    @distractedbyzombies - some of those best people don’t hang out as much as i’d like them to.    the stain has peeled off my chair, i’m going to paint it wacko this summer.  one way or the other.  (i said this last summer too)

    @locomotiv - thanks for your visit.

  • @longshadow618 - hugs right back.

    @Grannys_Place - love it.

    @my0615 - hello there!

    @xXxlovelylollipop - thank you, nadia.  interesting post.

    @notes_on_notes - hello!

    @runisom48 - thank you.  hope you had a good day, dave.

  • @lanney - thanks you for being here too.  you make it fun.

    @ordinarybutloud - thanks.  i was feeling mighty sappy this morning.

    @be_the_rain - love you.

    @complicatedlight - aw, thanks bear in a chair.

    @songoftheheart - what’s this “they” stuff?  you’re in there.  who do you think inspired me to sketch the chair?

    @leaflesstree - yup.  love it.

    @anvilsandedelweiss - it’s home.  sometimes we might want to leave home, but we always come back.  i’m a homebody, so i don’t even wanna leave.  :)

  • @Passionflwr86 - nope. not alone.  not at all.  take care.

  • I think I’ve officially seen too many gory pics on the internet – I flinched for a sec when I saw that tree berry one.

  • @promisesunshine - Well get your sledge hammer out and get to hobbling. A croquet mallet might do in a pinch. ;)

  • I feel the exact same way <3 this was so beautiful.  Thank you :)

  • this is sweet. it is a great outlet and great opportunity to try new things. that is how i started.

    good luck on poetry, should you pursue it.

    i just read them in videos. i just posted one. shameless plug. tsk tsk

    maybe i’ve written a couple of poems but it’s not my thing. i’m a flasher

  • i came here on rec. i will sub because any friend of db’s has gotz to be cool

  • @bonmots - and so you do.  nice.

  • You’re not alone!  That’s just what this makes me think.  You’re not alone.  None of us are.  Because we have this little ol’ community wrapped around us like a wool blanket.  Not in a suffocating way, in a cozy, sitting-by-the-fire-on-a-cold-winter-afternoon-roasting-marshmellows kinda way.

  • @onestepcloserto_perfection - exactly.  although with this weather (which i love) it’s sunshine on my face.  sunshine from many places and people and ideas and it’s so warm and wonderful.  (gosh. i’m still sappy today.  i need a dose of reality or something)

  • it is NOT CREEPY to dream of Xangans . I do it all the time. I believe the two people I told about my dreams of them were weirded out a little but I don’t understand why. What do they expect if I read their blogs every day for a period of over a year?

  • what a lovely concept !!!!

  • i have to agree with what someone said up there, way back in comments. best blog ever. <3

  • @PocketfulOfDreams - after all, we are real people and the connections are real.  no matter how far away.

    @roscoes_farm - thanks, person who makes me laugh a lot.

    @islefaye - thank you.  hello!

    @be_the_rain -   you make me smile every single day of my life.

  • @promisesunshine - Someone dies in a car accident every 13 minutes.

  • @onestepcloserto_perfection - geez.  i didn’t mean it.  that’s awful.  especially considering how awful i am at driving lately.  i mean bad.

  • @PocketfulOfDreams - Exactly!  I stopped telling people when I dream about them.  No matter what the dreams involves, all of the guys (and some of the girls) just assume it means I have a crush on them!

  • @lanney - my dreams aren’t all crushes.  i dreamed someone was mean.  i dreamed someone did something totally wacky and out of character.  the subconscious works in wild ways.

  • @promisesunshine - I know!  People assume way too much.

  • @promisesunshine – Today I missed my exit, got off, drove the wrong way in a one way, missed the entrance back to the interstate, hit the curb, then almost gpt run over by an ambulance.
    Yeah. So the next one to go.

  • @onestepcloserto_perfection - ok. you win.  i just went 40 in a 50 zone and drove for a while with my turn signal on.  yesterday, i parked without using my turn signal.  i would probably benefit from turning down the radio.  :)
    be careful of curbs.  learned that lesson the VERY hard way. (except i wasn’t the bonehead who ran over it.)
    for goodness sake, be careful tomorrow.  (i’m safe because i’m on foot tomorrow mostly- although there’s the possibility that i’ll try walking out in traffic again)

  • @epiginoskete - thank you.  (and thanks for visiting)
