blah blah
It’s raining. And freezing. I was sitting here contemplating nothing. and decided that I have had more than enough of those stupid outdoor Christmas lights. I did put on shoes. and a coat. I originally wasn’t going to. As I’m heading outside the voice of reason has the following conversation with me.
reason: going somewhere?
me: yes, taking down the *** lights
reason: NOW?
me: is there a better time for that?
reason: (incredulous stare followed by smile followed by …) a month ago?
The good news is that I could take them down with a broom unlike the stepladder scene I enacted putting them up. The whole procedure took about 5 minutes. B’bye Christmas.
In other news: littleloudone is a ninja again today. and she didn’t do her math homework. and she begged me to read The Hobbit again last night. and was even willing to practice her drum to get it. and she’s been enjoying a little bit of personal hygiene this week (dreadlock-free for 5 whole days). while i was reading and she was not doing her math homework, she drew a self portrait. i was hoping to find it laying around the house to scan it. it’s either under a pile or she took it to school. it really was pretty awesome, even though it had those big anime eyes.
In other, other news: spawn has drawings on deviant art. Is this something I should be freaking out about?
I can’t think of a song to share today. This is how quiet the voices in my head are right now.

Optimal weather or not, sometimes a thing just has to be done.
The Hobbit and personal hygiene are both excellent things.
I suppose that depends entirely on just how deviant her art is.
@lanney - not at all deviant. it’s anime. they both are obsessed with it. spawn’s drawings are pretty cute. there’s a communication feature that worries me. you know what kind of trouble people can get into online.
@promisesunshine - ah, I see your point
Well, just check in on it periodically, I suppose, and remind her how to stay safe..
Um, you’re just now taking down your Christmas decs???
Am I missing something?
@armnatmom - spouse was in a hurry to get the outside lights gone, so i got a little stubborn. i’m that way.
@lanney - i could teach her by example. bwa ha ha

I love Dean Martin, mess that he was.
@promisesunshine - oi
@lanney - nice.
Yeah, watch out for Anime and Manga. It can be pretty cute, but my understanding is (and I could be wrong), that it’s a popular way to illustrate porn.
@whyzat - i believe you are right. but the anime they like is tame. thank goodness. (i sometimes pay attention.) spawn has a better understanding of appropriate than her mother. i’m raising a good girl. somehow.
@promisesunshine - I’m sure your kids wouldn’t look at bad stuff on purpose and you must be more attentive that a lot of parents. But, you can be clicking along innocently and there it is…
@whyzat - true enough. spawn would freak out at this point if she did. i also think we have walls or whatever those are called set up on their computers.
Your post today is funny. I love how you support your children in their drawing and trust me let them draw whatever they want to draw, there is nothing to freak out about. You remind me of myself taking down the outside lighting in cold and rain. I think, secretly I wanted my wife to feel sorry for me. It didn’t work. In fact it took her two days to notice they were down.
I never put up lights. Mostly because you just have to take them down again
.
I LOL’d at enjoying some personal hygine. Kids are funny like that.
I took a shower today. Now I’m clean again.
christmas is an interesting season. it has a definite middle, but the beginning and the end are always a little hazy. as if that’s not already a bit confusing, i find the years pass faster as i grow older; these days it seems to come around about every three months.
Devianart is a great site with lots of wonderful artwork this said you should advice her about profile settings so the site can filter the explicit content and intellectual property even I don’t agree with it it’s supposed to be a big deal for artists
Creative kids are just so awesome, I was one and it’s kind’a frustrating that my kids are much more the physical/sports type : but my niece is a lot more quiet and contemplative as I was so I get to draw and paint with her
nice conversation with the voice of reason. ~ love that you got it all taken care of with the sweep of a broom. it’s his turn next christmas, right? ~ it rained its heart out here for two days in a row. it’s promising sunshine soon. and that is that.
I’ve lived in one-story ranches my whole time here in America, and we’ve never decorated our houses with Christmas lights. My parents don’t feel like going through the hassle of putting them up then taking them down.
I wonder how colonials and other massively huge houses go overboard with their lights every Christmas
when I put up outdoor decorations I basically let them be until the snow went away. I just finally got my tree down.
@be_the_rain - that voice of reason sometimes just annoys me. but… it’s earlier than march like i threatened.
(hubba hubba on your poem.) @vexations - it’s my own fault. as always.
@godfatherofgreenbay - kept getting hit by the front door or i woulda
@Cestovatelka - the theory of christmas lights is SO much better than the reality
@complicatedlight - that’s just great. i’ll be putting up those freaking lights again in a month then.
@xXxlovelylollipop - creative i got. it’s obedient, athletic, neat we lack.
@runisom48 - everything but your mind.
@anvilsandedelweiss - the one kid i can’t get out of the shower, the other one i can’t get in. averages, i guess.
@promisesunshine - lol those things usually don’t go well together
I love reading about LLO and S! They make me smile! Enjoy each day with them…even when they’re “loud” or “deviant”.
Okay…I’m weird…but you knew that…I wish the lights could stay up all year round…especially the ones ON houses…especially the blue or white or green ones…I find them joyful and cheery.
“It’s a small world, It’s a small world, It’s a small world, after all…It’s a small, small world…”
Just thought I’d give you a song for your head! (Evil grin!) Please don’t smack me!
HUGS!
Deviant art is only a problem if it’s deviant.
@AdamsWomanFell - it’s a world of laughter, a world of tears.
@ordinarybutloud - thank you for the clarification.
@promisesunshine - it’s a world of HOPES and a world of fears.
there’s so much that we share that it’s time we’re aware. (is that next/right?)
@be_the_rain - can’t get back in messages. later. love.
You could leave them up too! Whenever you want colors just plug them in!
@milky_vampyre - i left the lights on the little tree.
why would you freak out about your child’s art being on deviant art?
@plantinthewindow - freaking is what i do. just having info about her online really (not that she used her real name and includes anything personal). i read creepy books sometimes.
@promisesunshine - I understand. my daughter has a deviant art site.
@plantinthewindow - wanna exchange info?
took down yer Christmas lights ????? it ain’t April yet !!!!
The voices in my head are singing the banana boat song.
@roscoes_farm - yea, i know. early.
@Grannys_Place - daylight come and i wanna go home? that one?
You shouldn’t be concerned about Deviant Art. It’s a great community. Like here! Only different. I haven’t been around there for a few years, but as long as Spawn is smart about what she shares and posts (like everything on the interwebz) then it’ll be okay. I promise. As much as I can. Haha.
I still have Christmas lights up inside. But it’s only one strand around the window and door and they’re kind of pretty. I might just leave them up.
@onestepcloserto_perfection - thanks. i keep spying on her because it always come up on her on my computer. privacy invader, how awful.
i like them usually. just was done.
